A nonlinear stress-strain relationship of soil reinforced with flexible geofibers under static loading is derived based on a nonlinear elastic stress-strain relationship of soil and a linear elastic stress-strain relationship of geofibers in the paper. This investigation includes the following aspects: First, the homogenization technique is introduced to find the volume average stress tensor and volume average strain tensor and further an elastic incremental stress-strain relation is introduced to describe deviatoric shear stress-axial strain relationship of equivalent homogeneous geofiber-reinforced soil. Second, the relation of geofiber numbers, content, mechanical behavior, distribution, and geometrical features to shear modulus of geofiber-reinforced soil is expressed and assessed by employing an elastic energy method. Third, the deviatoric shear stress and axial strain curves of geofiber-reinforced soil are calibrated by laboratory testing data of geofiber reinforced soil samples. Finally, the theoretical computational curves of geofiber reinforced soil are compared with the curves calibrated by testing data of geofiber reinforced soil. Stress analysis of pin-loaded woven-glass fiber reinforced epoxy laminate conveying chain components
The aim of this study is to examine the effects of various loading conditions on the stress of a pin-loaded woven-glass fiber reinforced epoxy laminate conveying chain component. A numerical and experimental study was carried out to determine the stress distribution of composite conveying chain components used to convey loads. For the experimental study, an apparatus was developed to simulate chain components in real motion. Two different working conditions of the chain component were investigated. The first condition represents the movement of the chain components without loading. In the second condition, the chain component touches and moves the load. The commercial finite element package ANSYS was used to perform the numerical analysis using a three dimensional eight-noded layered structural solid elements. Chain tensile forces were loaded through pins and chosen as 250, 500, 750, 1000 and 1250 N for the two conditions of chain components. Experimental and numerical studies were compared and discussed for two conditions and five different tensile forces. A good agreement between experimental results and numerical predictions is obtained. 相似文献

Optical absorbance at 632.8 nm and the stress generated in tungsten oxide film due to photochromic and electrochromic effects were measured. WO3 thin films were deposited by reactive sputtering and the absorbance was obtained by measuring the optical transmittance of a laser beam through the film. The stress was calculated by measuring the substrate curvature and using the Stoney equation for multilayered films, since two layers are deposited onto a substrate for the electrochromism studies. The optical absorbance and the stress in the tungsten oxide film, as a function of UV irradiation time in photochromism and of inserted charge in electrochromism, are showed and discussed. In both effects the stresses generated were rendered as due to cation insertions into the film: H+ protons in photochromism and Li+ ions in electrochromism. Boiler tubes in power plants have finite life because of prolonged exposure to high temperature, stress and aggressive environment. Service-exposed platen superheater and reheater tubes (148,900 h) made of 2.25Cr-1 Mo steels in a 120 MW boiler of a thermal power plant were evaluated for remnant life. The investigation included hot tensile tests, hardness measurement, dimensional measurement, microscopy and creep tests. Experimentally determined yield and ultimate tensile strength, and estimated 10,000–100,000 h rupture strength in the temperature range 520–580 °C, exhibited a decreasing trend with increasing temperature. Microstructural study did not reveal any significant degradation in terms of creep cavities, cracks, graphitization, etc. Analysis of tensile and stress rupture data revealed that although there was degradation of the tubes due to prolonged service exposure in terms of the ultimate tensile strength values, stress rupture plots showed that the service exposed superheater and reheater tubes could remain in service for a length of more than 10 years at the operating hoop stress of 40 MPa/540 °C, provided no localised damage in the form of cracks or dents develop. 相似文献

Treated was an anti-plane crack perpendicular to the interface of an exponential-type FGM strip bonded to another linear-type
FGM substrate with infinite thickness. Through Fourier integral transform, the problem was reduced as a Cauchy singular integral
equation, which was further solved numerically by the Lobatto–Chebyshev collocation method. Based on the numerical solution,
the effects of the geometrical and physical parameters on the stress intensity factor (SIF) were analyzed and the following
conclusions were obtained: (a) A notable discrepancy between the interface-perpendicular crack and the interfacial one is
that, to reduce the weak-discontinuity of interface or to make the interface micro-discontinuous will not necessarily decrease
the SIF of the former, but will surely decrease that of the latter. (b) When a crack tip is situated very near to the interface
(or free surface), its SIF will be high and totally dominated by the interface (or free surface). (c) To increase the stiffness
of the FGM on one side of the interface is beneficial to preventing the crack on the other side from growing toward the interface.
